Dear members,
On the occasion of our last gathering before the end of the year, Marie-Thérèse Chappaz, Anselme Selosse and Baghera/wines invite you to a wine dinner on Thursday, December 7th, at Club 1865 by Baghera/wines. We are fortunate to welcome Marie-Thérèse Chappaz together with Anselme Selosse and his wife, to our Club.
A menu crafted with food and wine pairings by Chef Mathieu Croze from the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Chat Botté* will be presented in six courses. Each course will be accompanied by one or two bottles. We hope to see many of you at this wonderful year-end evening!
Warm regards,
Charlotte

This dinner-tasting will feature two continents, two emblematic regions of international renown, two iconic estates and two visions of wine: Klein Constantia estate (The Cape, South Africa) and Château Angelus (Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux). Two properties on opposite sides of the world, but where innovation, experimentation and even the overthrow of tradition are equally accepted.
Hans Astrom, Director and co-owner of Klein Constantia, has honored us with his presence at this dinner. He will be presenting a fine selection of wines & vintages chosen specifically for this occasion to match the wines of Château Angelus, selected by Anna Tkachenko-Marie (European Export Manager), who will also be present to enlighten us on the illustrious Saint-Emilion estate in the hands of the de Boüard family (the link between these 2 estates being, you guessed it, Hubert de Boüard, co-owner of both estates).
Over a gastronomic meal prepared by the Chat-Botté* teams, with food and wine pairings, we're preparing a journey between two hemispheres, to discover two great estates, rivalling in excellence and history, whose doors will be wide open to you for a nonpareil evening.

« At Clos Rougeard, time is the master of the place. He alone allows the vines and the wines the freedom to reveal themselves ».
This is how the mythical "Foucault brothers" summarize their philosophy of vine growing. Limiting human intervention, respecting the earth and making wine rigorously; these are the precepts followed at the estate for at least fifty years. Fathers of a reasoned and organic agriculture, without claiming the label, the wines produced at the domain have become myths. Faithful to their ancestors, the vintages do not multiply in order to better care for those that exist. At Clos Rougeard, we promote quality, even excellence, but excellence in all simplicity.
An exceptional tasting and carefully selected vintages, fruits of the work of the two brothers, before the tragic death of "Charly" at the end of 2015. A well-deserved tribute through the three red wines - Le Clos, Les Poyeux, Le Bourg - and the emblematic white wine - Brézé -, in the strict respect of the regional grape varieties, Cabernet Franc and Chenin. The Loire, with the great diversity of its soils and an almost clement climate, seems to be asserting itself a little more as a land of the future.
More than a domain, a phenomenon, a must for wine lovers, collectors and restaurateurs. An evolving estate, which has been in the news in recent years due to its change of ownership. But, beyond - or even above - material and strategic contingencies, one statement seems immutable: the quality of the wine remains the same!

« Viticulture remains a strong link between Man and the earth. We have a pioneering role to play in deconstructing all mechanical and chemical practices. We wish to contribute, here and now, to an agriculture that is more conscious of its responsibility towards humanity ».
As the first domain in Morey-saint-Denis to be certified biodynamic by Biodyvin, Domaine Arlaud knows how to preserve its soils and live up to these exceptional Burgundian climates, now classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Not all soils are equal, and this awareness awakens in people's minds the notion of crus: the wines fully restore the taste of the place.
Cyprien Arlaud, who has been a defender of the Climats cause since its inception, will honor us with his presence for a tasting under the sign of typicity. The first growths will show sometimes their minerality and density - on Les Ruchots -, sometimes their energetic elegance - on Les Combottes -. Les Charmes, aptly named, is a supple and suave grand cru, while Clos Saint-Denis is lacy, complex and gourmet.
We invite you to discover or appreciate again this flagship estate of the Côte de Nuits, on the terroir of Morey-Saint-Denis where the wines are haute-couture!
