Baghera Wines was founded in 2015 by a passionate team of experts with many years of involvement in international wine auctions. Michael and Julie decided to set out on a new venture with their own firm specializing in rare and fine wines.
Weathered professionals in wine rating and cellar management, they are dedicated to sharing their extensive knowledge in markets of fine wines and exceptional tastings with their customers, whether simple amateurs, wine collectors or real professionals.
Michael Ganne is originally from the Médoc region of Bordeaux and naturally chooses to dedicate himself to the wine business. Yet his unswerving taste for novelty spans beyond the great Bordeaux wines.
A graduate of the International Vine and Wine Office with a Master of Wine Management, Michael has visited more than twenty-four countries and met with the most influential people in the business.
We owe Michael some of the most glamorous world records when he was Head of Continental Europe for the Wine Department at Christie’s, such as the most expensive Bordeaux Cheval Blanc 1947 or a Burgundy Romanée Conti 1945.
Strong promoter of the great vintage bottles he unearths and relentlessly looking for new perspectives, Michael becomes Executive Director of Baghera Wines in 2015.
Julie Carpentier’s past is deeply rooted in the Loire valley. These regional origins may very well have given her the desire to take the plunge and work in wineries and vineyards. Yet it may simply have been the encounter with her husband-to-be, an accomplished winemaker…
In a former life, Julie studies Art and Archaeology at the école du Louvre before joining Christie’s Wine Department where she dedicates her expertise to wines and spirits.
A graduate from WSET also, Julie shows a remarkable understanding of native varietals together with an overall taste for exceptional and unique products. Thus, when Michael asks her to join Baghera Wines, she does not hesitate to be part of the venture as Deputy Director within the team.
Chief Financial Officer
Flavien Jaquillard, a Lyon-born gourmet, has been attracted to the good things in life since his childhood. The love of cooking, wine and numbers have been decisive in his career.
Having obtained an MBA, he heads for the financial departments of France’s most prestigious hotels. To perfect his skills in the field of finance, he joins several multinational companies, leaders in their respective markets. Later, he discovers the operational management of a vineyard and refocuses on his objectives: excellency and gastronomy.
Flavien has been involved in all of Baghera Wines’ room auctions, and when Michael and Julie invite him to join the team, the partnership feels like a natural continuation of his career at Christie’s in the world of auctions, fine wines and excellence.
